When curiosity meets a private account

It started pretty randomly — I saw a comment thread and clicked on a profile that looked interesting, but it was locked. I sent a follow request without thinking much, but now it’s been days and there’s no response.
The weird part is not knowing whether to forget about it or try something else. I checked online, but most “tips” about viewing private accounts don’t feel real or updated. Has anyone dealt with this kind of situation before, or is it really just a waiting game?

That kind of thing happened to me after I found a private music account through a repost chain late at night and randomly sent a follow request without expecting much. A few days passed and I kept checking back out of curiosity, mostly because the page looked active from the preview but nothing changed.
