True OR not given

Hi, I have a question, I quote from the reading part “a common glacier flows about 10 inches per day in the summer and 5 inches per day in the winter”

Question: glaciers normally move at a rate of about 5 to 10 inches a day.

I think that not given however answer is true, why? The sentence include only summer and winter.

Hi Bilal, good question.
In IELTS you must use good logic and inference. A year stretches from winter to summer, winter being the coldest and summer the warmest, so it is logical that the glacier moves 5 (slowest – winter) to 10 (fastest – summer) inches in the year, therefore the answer must be ‘true’.
Again, remember that IELTS is more than just a test of English, it is also a test of thinking.
