I’m trying to improve my IELTS Speaking answers, especially for questions about my home, neighborhood, and everyday life. I find these questions harder than they seem because I sometimes know what I want to say but cannot think of enough details in English.

For example, if the examiner asks about a kitchen or something I would like to change in my home, I could talk about storage, furniture, or remodeling. I recently came across the phrase “Thousand Oaks RTA Cabinets” while looking at examples of ready-to-assemble kitchen cabinets, and it made me think about how useful specific everyday examples can be when practicing speaking.

Do you usually prepare a few personal examples in advance for topics like your home, or do you try to answer completely spontaneously? I’d also be interested to know how others practice describing ordinary things without making their answers sound memorized.
