Most of our equipment was bought several years ago, and it still handles older vehicles without much trouble. Newer cars are a different story — more modules, more network communication and a lot more electronics involved even in relatively simple faults. I’m considering updating part of our diagnostic setup before the old tools become a real limitation. I’ve been browsing https://ecutools.eu/ to see what current equipment is available, but I don’t want to replace perfectly usable tools just for the sake of having newer models. For anyone who has recently modernized their workshop equipment, which upgrades actually made a noticeable difference?

For us, improving network diagnostics and getting a better scope made the biggest difference. We kept several older tools because they still did their jobs perfectly well. I wouldn’t replace everything at once. Upgrade the areas where you’re already losing time or turning work away, then keep the older equipment as backup where it still makes sense.
