Greetings from Beautiful Victoria, Canada!
Dear Students,
We’re thrilled to connect with you this week! Whether you’re just starting your IELTS journey or polishing your skills for that perfect band score, we’ve got something special for you. Here’s a recap of this week’s live classes and expert tips to help you succeed.
Listening Strategies: Nailing Parts 1 and 2
This week’s Listening class focused on mastering Parts 1 and 2 of the IELTS Listening test. Key strategies shared include:
- Visualize the Scene: Imagine yourself in the situation described. If it’s a conversation between a student and a professor, think about yourself being in that meeting.
- Pay Attention to Details: Listen for names, dates, and numbers. Questions often revolve around these specifics.
- Review Your Answers: Use the 30-second review time wisely to check for errors while the audio’s context is still fresh.
Pro Tip: The Listening test increases in difficulty. Scoring 8-10 in Part 1 is essential for reaching higher bands.

Speaking: Answering Confidently and Naturally
Our Speaking sessions this week covered all three parts, with an emphasis on tackling cue cards in Part 2 and challenging questions in Part 3. Here are the highlights:
- Part 1: Always greet the examiner formally. For example: “Yes, certainly. Here is my passport. Please take a look at my credentials.”
- Part 2: Structure your answer clearly. Describe the object, its purpose, and your personal experience with it. Use this strategy:
- Opening: Introduce the object.
- Details: Talk about its features and the training required to use it.
- Conclusion: Reflect on its impact and why you recommend it.
- Part 3: Provide concise, well-thought-out answers. Avoid repeating yourself unnecessarily and focus on examples to support your points.
Challenge: Talk about an object you own that requires training to use. Share your ideas with us at [email protected] for feedback!
