A Linux data recovery utility is designed to help you locate and recover files that have either been deleted by mistake, are not accessible because of some errors in file systems, or are lost due to formatting of a partition or entire drive. Which tool you should use will depend on the particular Linux distribution, storage medium, and nature of data loss. While some software works via command line interface, other tools offer a graphical interface for convenient file recovery. If your files are lost from hard drive, solid-state drive, USB flash drive or memory card, it is recommended that you do not save any new files to that drive as they may overwrite existing ones.
