Hey. Our deck in Issaquah looks gray and tired, with some splinters and loose nails. The structure seems solid. We’d like to keep it wood if possible, my wife loves the natural look. Is it worth restoring the surface, or will it just fail again in a couple of years?

Hey. If the structure is solid, surface restoration often makes sense. We had GotRot look at ours for Seattle Deck Repair. They checked the framing first, confirmed it was fine, then replaced the worst boards, secured everything with screws instead of nails and refinished the surface. It looks great. The refinished wood looks almost new. Honestly, if many boards are already cracking, switching to composite may be smarter long term. Ask them to show you the framing condition before you decide.
