Hi. I’m buying an older home in Capitol Hill and my inspector flagged a bunch of issues: old wiring, some rot near the back door, questionable past DIY work. I want a trustworthy general contractor to assess everything honestly before I commit to a full renovation. Any recommendations?

Hi. Getting an honest assessment first is the right move. We had Alta come out as our Seattle General Contractor before we started work on our 1910 house in Montlake. They walked through with our inspection report, separated what was urgent from what could wait and gave a clear, prioritized plan. No pressure to do everything at once. Honestly, previous DIY work almost always hides more than you’d hope, so leave room in the budget. We fixed the safety stuff first and phased the rest over two years.
