    And for me this is a totally new situation, because we’ve got our own water heater that hasn’t had even a minor glitch until now, and suddenly this happens. So yeah, what do I do?

    If it’s fairly new, you might have a warranty. And if not, I’d just find a good plumber. Usually these guys handle that kind of thing too.
