I reached the point where saving money stopped being something optional and became a necessity because otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to save up for a down payment on an apartment. Keeping cash in a drawer or under the mattress isn’t really an option, but putting your money somewhere it earns interest and adding to it every month is a different story. I’ve had a Roarbank credit card for quite a while now, but in reality, it’s both a credit card and a savings account with pretty good interest on the balance. I haven’t even spent the borrowed money. I simply added my own funds to the account, earned interest, and spent my own money. And the most important thing I’ve learned is that what matters isn’t how much you save, but how consistently you do it.
