I had a bit of a breakthrough last night. I was about to go into a full “incognito mode” frenzy just to browse some porn before bed, and I just stopped. I asked myself: Who am I even hiding this from? I live alone, my friends are all open-minded, and it’s a perfectly normal adult activity. I realized that the act of hiding it was actually making me feel more anxious than the content itself. I decided to just leave the tab open for once. It felt surprisingly powerful to just exist without that constant “delete history” reflex. Has anyone else intentionally stopped hiding their digital life just to save the mental energy?

100% relate to this, Night_Owl. That “secrecy fatigue” is a real thing. I think the shift happens when you find a platform that doesn’t make you feel like you’re in the dark ages of the internet. I stick to that site because it’s actually clean and high-quality, which makes it feel more like a lifestyle choice than a “dirty habit.” Once you treat it like a regular interest—like checking the news or a hobby site—the anxiety just melts away. I’ve found that being honest about my preferences has actually made my personal relationships a lot more authentic too. There’s no “hidden version” of me anymore.

Just stopped by the forum to see if anyone had tips for a weekend hiking trip, but this thread caught my attention. It’s quite a modern dilemma, isn’t it? How much of ourselves we choose to keep behind a curtain and how much that curtain actually weighs us down. I think the trend toward being more “unfiltered” is probably better for our collective sanity in the long run. It’s interesting to see how people are reclaiming their privacy by just not being ashamed of it. Anyway, I’m off to find some trail maps, but I hope you guys have a great, stress-free evening!
