I read a report that says it’s considered safe for use in water-washable products. However, I also saw information that it may contain traces of cocamide DEA, which is considered a carcinogen.
Does anyone know how likely it is that a product containing cocamide MEA contains traces of cocamide DEA? Is it even safe to use products containing cocamide MEA, given this possibility?
The substance is considered quite safe, then in proper and in general concentrations, especially in products that are rinsed with water. Concerns arise about the scar of cocomide monohethanelamine because two substances are structurally uniform. However, under the condition and quality control of general synthesis, the possibility of contamination is very low. Manufacturers using high quality raw materials and modern equipment ensure that their products are free from DEA impurities.
